Tell Tale Book Reviews
10 years...
When I started Tell Tale Book Reviews, pretty much on a lark, I never in my wildest thoughts anticipated that I would still be here, over 1,200 reviews later. I had no idea that I would work with dozens of talented authors, some of Christian fiction's biggest publishers as well as small ones and, of course, indies. Street teams, launch teams, influencers, and publicity were concepts that I had never heard of then. Back then my intent was to review a couple of books that I had won and fill in with library checkouts...
Where did the name Tell Tale Book Reviews originate?
As a kid I was a confirmed cat person. I liked our dogs but that was it. Then, when I was a teenager my younger brother brought home our first Malamute. That puppy weaseled his way into my heart before I even knew what was happening. A few months later Binky's owner could no longer take care of him so she called us and asked us to take him. As soon as I saw that fat 3 month old puppy I knew he was meant to be mine. It took awhile for me to decide on his new name but I finally chose my favorite Louis L'Amour character, Tell Sackett, and Tell he became. I couldn't have had a better first dog, God knew what He was doing when he brought Tell into our lives. Tell was a total Pollyanna, he always looked on the bright side and found a reason for being glad. So, when it came time to name my blog I decided to go with a play on words using my dog's name. Tell, because it was his name and books tell stories. Tale because fiction books are tales, and because Tell the dog had a tail. And, of course, Book Reviews because it was a book review blog. Even after I lost Tell in 2017 I've never regretted naming my blog after him. Since then it has been something of a way for me to honor the impact one happy, sweet, sometimes stubborn, wonderful dog has had on my life...
Time...
Many things have changed in the last 10 years -- other things not all. My blog and I both have had our ups and downs, our inspired times and dry times, the busy and the slow. But, no matter the changes as time slips inexorably onward, as long as Tell Tale Book Reviews exists you will get my honest thoughts and recommendations. I thank you for being here with me through however many years -- or if you are new -- and I sincerely hope you will continue on for a long time to come...
